The Crown (of Thorns) Our Appointed Time and the (Roman) Soldiers (Part 1)

 

Crown of Thorns

*This is a personal study and revelation given to me by The Holy Spirit. There will be two parts to this study (Check back during the week for part 2)

John 19:1-2 ~ Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged Him.  And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on His head……. 

*The definition of * thorn

Hebrew (6975) Thorns, prickly thorn bush (6791) Hook (7898) To plunder and spoil ~ Take captive   Greek (173) Prickly thorn bush, thorny plant 

*Definition of Goad – A pointy shoot like thorn, a long prodding rod with a sharp end 

Acts 26:14 ~  And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads

*The correlation and connection The Holy Spirit showed me of why the crown of thorns was put on Yeshua’s head and the curse put on Adam, is a fulfillment of the curse due to the sin and fall of Adam being reversed and crucified on the cross with Yeshua for those who believe, follow after and put their trust in Him.

What is that curse?

Gen 3:17-19 ~ And to the man (Adam) He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘Do not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground because of you, in toil you are to eat of it all the days of your life, and the ground shall bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you shall eat the plants of the field. “By the sweat of your face you are to eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are, and to dust you return.” 

*Throughout biblical history, we see the endless struggle and continuous battle of uprooting the thorns and briars through the sweat and labor of man. The physical and spiritual struggle, labor and toil that sought to choke out and hinder mankind from bearing fruit and producing food to sustain humanity physically and spiritually. This was a daily battle. We still see this thorny battle being raged to this day,  especially for those who are outside of knowing and putting their faith in Yeshua Jesus our Messiah.

*Through the Covenant and obedience to Yahweh God’s laws (Torah) and Commandments given to the Israelites, they were instructed and commanded by Yahweh their Elohim to drive out and destroy all the abominable molten images of the evil and wicked inhabitants who dwelled in the land of promise given to His Covenant people, Yahweh kept back the thorns of compromise, idolatry, (the worship of the inhabitants false gods and sacrifice of their children to Molech) and rebellion (thorns in your eyes and pricks in your sides)

Numbers 35:51-56 ~ Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When ye have passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; Then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite demolish all their high places: And you shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell in it; for I have given you the land to possess it. And you shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot has fallen; according to the tribes of your fathers you will inherit.  But if you will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which you let remain of them shall be prickles in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall harass you in the land in which ye dwell. Moreover, it shall come to pass, that I shall do to you as I thought to do to them. 

Joshua 23:13 ~ Know for a certainty that Yahweh your God will no more drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap unto you, and a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you

Joshua 2:3-6 ~ Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.  And it came to pass, when the angel of Yahweh spoke these words unto all the children of Israel that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.  And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto Yahweh.

2 Samuel 23:6 ~ But the ungodly shall be all of them as thorns to be thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with the hand

Isaiah 10:17 ~ And the light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day

*There are a number of scriptures that equates thorns and briers as a means of affliction, sufferings and judgements against Yahweh’s rebellious, disobedient and stiff necked people

*I will put up several scriptures for you to see as a reference and evidence to these facts

Proverbs 15:19 / 22:5 ~ The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway / Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: He that keeps his soul shall be far from them 

Isaiah 5:6 / 34:13 ~  and I (Yahweh) will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned nor hoed; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it / And thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches

Jeremiah 4:3 ~ For thus says Yahweh to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. 

Ezekiel 2:6 ~ And you, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are among you, and you dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house

*Yeshua bore the curse of thorns (rebellion, idolatry, and the painful suffering of our fallen sinful nature) upon His own head in order to lift the effects, the heavy weight, and power of this thorny curse to those who follow Yeshua and bear His fruit in keeping with repentance.

*When we allow the cares, troubles, anxieties and fears of this world (fallen beast system) to creep into our lives, spiritual thorns will spring up to choke out and prevent the Living Word of Yeshua from taking root deep into our hearts and minds. We open those cursed portals, activate and give power to the thorny curse that will separate us from Yahweh’s covering and protection and ultimately cut us off from the Life of Yeshua.

*What is the remedy?

* In humility and brokenness with  sincerity ask forgiveness through the blood of Yeshua Jesus, Repent and call on The Holy Spirit to help you pull out all the spiritual thorns and briars of unbelief, anxiety, the fear of man (which brings a snare,) idolatry, and disobedience to Yahweh’s Word, His Will and all His Ways. This will lift the thorny curse from your life and put you back in right standing and a restored relationship with your Abba Father in Yeshua

Matthew 7:16-17 / 13:22-23 ~ By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but the corrupt (thorny) tree brings forth evil fruit / And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that hears the Word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful. / And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that hears (and obeys) the Word, and understands  it; who (applies the Word in their lives) bears fruit, and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 

Hebrews 6:8 ~ but if it (you) bear thorns and thistles, it is rejected and near unto a curse; whose end is to be burned. 

*There are two examples in scripture where thorns are used for our benefit and ultimate good

 2 Corinthians 12:6-10 ~ or if I should desire to glory, I shall not be foolish; for I shall speak the truth: but I forbear, lest any man should account of me above that which he sees in me to be, or hears  from me. And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch.  Concerning this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.  And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong

*I believe as Paul was given a thorn in his flesh from being puffed up. As Yahweh God's called out remnant, we also have our own personal tailored thorn (weakness and infirmity) in our flesh to keep us humble and dependent on Him so we too don’t become proud or puffed up from the knowledge, wisdom, understanding, mysteries and revelations of Jesus Christ given to us by His Spirit throughout our walk of spiritual growth and sanctification.  The grace (favor, delight gratifying benefits) of knowing and following our Messiah Yeshua Jesus is more than sufficient (enough) And His strength is perfected in the weakness (thorns) of our flesh

*The second example of thorns working for our good is in Hosea 2:6-7 ~ Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, (My bride) that she shall not find her paths.  And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now. 

*Yahweh God, our AWESOME and INCREDIBLE Abba Father puts a hedge of thorns around His purchased and redeemed Bride like a wall to help His people from finding their way back to their to previous sinful ways and paths and to protect us from the evil that also seeks to enter in to cause our downfall and ultimate destruction

*I will conclude part 1 of this study by encouraging you to PRAY every day for Yahweh’s hedge of thorns and wall to surround your life within Him (our Yeshua Messiah) and to protect you from the evil, darkness and temptations lurking without

Earlier this morning before I put together this study and revelation, I came across this  WordPress blogger, who put an excerpt of a sermon by  H. Macmillan from the 1800's.

What I find so fascinating is the confirmation and spiritual synchronicity of this sermon that ties the crown of thorns with the curse of Adam.

 Once I heard a song of sweetness, As it cleft the morning air, Sounding in its blest completeness, Like a tender, pleading prayer; And I sought to find the singer, Whence the wondrous song was born; And I found a bird, sore wounded, Pinioned by a cruel thorn.
