ONCE WAS ENOUGH
♥      ♥    ♥    ♥

CONCEIVED I WAS
IN UNFELT PAIN
DOWNWARD DESCENDING
LIKE DROPS OF RAIN
.
AND TO THE EARTH
AS A SWORD, I FELL
WHILE HEAVEN CRIED
AND SO DID HELL
.
I LEFT THE GLORY
AND TOUCHED THE DIRT
I SOUGHT THE  LOVE
WHICH BROUGHT THE HURT
.
AND MY LIFE STARTED
TO BRING THE END
AND I CRIED, BLOOD STAINED
FOR WAYWARD MEN
.
MY MOTHER HELD ME
MY FATHER TURNED
MY MIND, REPLAYING
THE THINGS I’D LEARNED
.
AND ALL THE WHILE
THE SHADOWS GREW
AROUND THE BLIND ONES
WHO SAW THE TRUE
.
THE ONES WHO HATED
THE ONES WHO LIED
AND STOLE MY GARMENTS
THERE AS I CRIED
.
THE PAIN I BORE THEN
NO ONE COULD MEASURE
(NO MAN APPRAISES
THE THINGS I TREASURE)
.
FOR IN THAT DARKNESS
I HUNG ALONE
AND PRAYED FOR STRENGTH
AND WEPT FOR HOME
.
EARTH SPLIT ASUNDER
THE HEAVENS RANG
BLIND EYES WERE OPENED
AND CHILDREN SANG
.
BUT IN THAT MOMENT
OF UNKNOWN DEATH
MY LUNGS EXPELLED
THAT MORTAL BREATH
.
AND I AWAKENED
IN CAVERNS DEEP
WHERE MEN RAN SCREAMING
AND DID NOT SLEEP
.
THEY KNEW MY NAME THERE
THEY KNEW MY FACE
THOUGH THEY’D NEVER SEEN ME
OR KNOWN MY GRACE
.
AND I BEHELD THEM
AND HUNG MY HEAD
WITH SORROW BURDENED
FOR THE TRULY DEAD
.
ACROSS THE CHASM
I SAW THE OTHERS
MY LOVED ONES, WAITING
MY FRIENDS, MY BROTHERS
.
THEY SAW ME COMING
THEIR HANDS, THEY RAISED
THEY DANCED IN JOY
MY NAME, THEY PRAISED
.
I TOOK THEM WITH ME
UP TO THE SKY
NO MORE TO SUFFER
NO MORE TO DIE
.
ASCENDING NOW
FROM THAT DESCENT
I FOUND THOSE TO WHICH
I HAD BEEN SENT
.
AND LIKE THE LIGHTNING
AND LIKE THE RAIN
THE GLORY FELL
AND HEALED THE PAIN
.
TO AN ANCIENT PLACE
AND ALL IT’S PLEASURES
I CARRIED ALL
MY EARTHLY TREASURES
.
AND MANY HUNGRY
FOR THE LOVE I GIVE
WILL BE TRANSPORTED
TO THE PLACE I LIVE
.
VESSELS OF LIGHT
WHO’VE KEPT THE VOW
WILL BE TRANSFIGURED
THOUGH CLAY FORMED NOW
.
AND COUNTLESS CHILDREN
LIKE GRAINS OF SAND
WILL LIVE FOREVER
WITHIN MY HANDS
.
WOULD I DO IT OVER?
THE DEATH FOR SIN?
A MILLION TIMES
I’D DIE FOR MEN !
.
BUT THERE’S NO NEED
TO AGAIN, REBUFF
HELL’S POWER IS BROKEN
ONCE WAS ENOUGH.

                     Invisible People

Invisible people walking down the street
Can’t let them trample upon your sweet fantasy.
You sense them coming and turn the other way,
Their bleeding hearts an inconvenient display.

Invisible people cross in front of you
How dare their lives become your burden?
You have your own life to be concerned about
Not gonna be another one of love’s minions.

I heard a lady was arrested today,
For stealing cat food, a can of Friskies buffet (true story)
She had no money, she had nobody to phone
Your ears were closed ignoring her painful groans.

She had no cats, silver haired and so frail
Now she was headed to the local jail.
When asked to give a defense for her crime,
She said I eat it, otherwise I would die.

Invisible people walking down the street
Can’t let them trample upon your sweet fantasy.
You sense them coming and turn the other way,
Their bleeding hearts an inconvenient display.

Invisible people cross in front of you
How dare their lives become your burden?
You have your own life to be concerned about
Not gonna be another one of love’s minion.

The hardest part about this whole stinkin mess
It’s not the sharks or the world they infest.
Religious pseudos are those who cause the real pain
Thinking godliness is profit for gain.

You mock the homeless, blame it all on their sin
You have a nice home, big fireplace in your den.
Such a sad plight, are those on society
Praise God at least He’s meeting all of your needs.

Invisible people walking down the street
Can’t let them trample upon your sweet fantasy.
You sense them coming and turn the other way,
Their bleeding hearts an inconvenient display.

Invisible people cross in front of you
How dare their lives become your burden? You have your
own life to be concerned about
Not gonna be another one of love’s minion.

You turned your head because you just couldn't watch
Invisible people, sinking in their painful ship.
But your the first to toss bouquet on the sea
With salty tears saying ...thank God that's not me.

Their painful cries rise up to Abba above,
Who sees you psuedos, your faith clothed in your self-love.
You know religion, and the scriptures you twist
As you continue in your ignorant bliss.

Gray Days and Capture You

I read two poems by Angie called, Gray Days and Capture You accompanied by instrumental music in the background. I hope to do more in the future. I will post both poems below the player.

Gray Days

Gray days are coming
inspiring , calming,
take me back in time....
To the days where
you look out at the ocean
and cant see
where the
water ends and the sky begins...
Gray days...
blending the horizon...
unwinding the distance
between space and time...
Smell the air so salty...
sand beneath my feet..
Waiting for the Grays days...
They make me feel complete..
© 2001 Athaleyah

Capture You

In this life that we live
there is more than meets the eye..
And before you know it -
its gone in a flash
like a star in the sky.
The light in each and every one
of us struggles with the limitations
of what we know.
We realize some thing far
more important when we are free to let go.
What is the beauty
in a purple red sky~
the full moon between the trees~
the crashing of a single wave
hitting the sand
in the gentle breeze?~
Becoming unbound by the
limitations of here and now
lets the beauty of life shine through..
Allowing for the true meaning
to unravel and
completely capture you.~

PRODIGAL

I LEFT MY HOME SOMETIME AGO
SO FOOLISHLY, SMUG AND VAIN
AND ALL I'VE THOUGHT OF SINCE I LEFT
IS GOING BACK HOME AGAIN.
I LEFT MY FATHER'S LAVISH MANSION
TO KNEEL IN THE MUD WITH THE SWINE
I HUDDLED AND FOUGHT FOR A BIT OF CORN HUSK
ON WHICH I WOULD HUNGRILY DINE.
SOMEHOW I THOUGHT THAT THINGS WOULD GET BETTER
AS I MADE MY OWN WAY THROUGH MY LIFE
WITHOUT HELP OR HAND FROM, GOD, SON OR MAN
BUT ALL I FOUND OUT THERE WAS STRIFE.
MY FATHER GAVE ME A GREAT INHERITANCE
AND I SQUANDERED AND THREW IT AWAY
ON PLEASURES AND LEISURE'S AND THINGS OF THE WORLD
AND SHAME IS ALL I HAVE TODAY.
HOW COULD I BETRAY MY FATHER'S TRUST?
HOW COULD I TURN AND LEAVE?
HOW COULD I LAUGH AND DANCE AWAY
AND LEAVE HIM THERE TO GRIEVE?
I NEVER PLANNED TO DO IT
I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD
TO BACKSLIDE WAS A FOREIGN THOUGHT
I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD.
I WONDER WHAT HE'D SAY TO ME NOW
IF I GAVE HIM AN OVERDUE CALL
HOW CAN I TELL HIM THAT I HAVE NOTHING LEFT
BUT LOST EVERYTHING IN THE FALL.
PERHAPS HE'LL LET ME SLEEP IN HIS BARN
AND THROW ME SOME CRUMBS EVERY NIGHT
PERHAPS HE'LL SCORN ME AND SCOURGE ME WITH WHIPS
AND TELL ME TO KEEP OUT OF SIGHT.
I WONDER WHAT MY BROTHER IS DOING
HE'S PROBABLY ARRAYED NOW SO FINE
EATING AND DRINKING AND TAKING HIS EASE
AND OWNING ALL THAT WAS ONCE PARTIALLY MINE.
MY FATHER PROBABLY LOVES HIM SO
AND HATES MY VERY NAME
HE PROBABLY LAVISHES HIS PRAISES ON HIM
AND NEVER WANTS TO SEE ME AGAIN.
WELL, TELL ME WHAT I HAVE TO LOSE
I'M SICK AND GASPING FOR BREATH
I FOUND THAT THE HEALTH AND THE WEALTH OF THE WORLD WAS JUST EMPTY, DISILLUSIONING DEATH.
I SEE THE EDGE OF MY FATHER'S ESTATE
THE WHEAT FIELDS AND CORNFIELDS SO GREEN
I SEE THE GARDENS OVERFLOWING WITH PRODUCE
IT'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SIGHT I HAVE SEEN.
THERE ARE THE HORSES I USED TO RIDE
THERE COMES THE FATTED CALF
MY HUNGER GNAWS WITHIN MY FLESH
LIKE IT'S TEARING MY STOMACH IN HALF.
MY CHILDHOOD FRIEND IS WORKING THE FIELDS
MY BROTHER IS PICKING THE FRUIT
BUT WHERE IS MY FATHER AND WILL I SOON FEEL
ON MY POOR RAGGED BACKSIDE.....HIS BOOT?
AND SUDDENLY I SEE HIM THERE AT THE DOOR
AND OH, I MUST HAVE BLINDED EYES!
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE'S A SMILE ON HIS FACE
AND IT LOOKS LIKE HIS ARMS ARE THROWN WIDE!
ONE STEP AND TWO AND NOW I AM RUNNING
AND MY FATHER IS RUNNING TOWARDS ME
ONE KISS, ONE EMBRACE AND NOW I AM WEEPING
AND MY FATHER IS WEEPING WITH ME.
" KILL THAT FATTED CALF!" SAYS HE
TO THE SERVANTS AS FEAR FLEES AWAY
"LAY ON THE TABLE A FEAST FOR A KING
AND TELL ALL, COME TO OUR HOLIDAY!"
NOW MY FATHER TAKES ME IN HIS ARMS
THE PLACE WHERE I KNOW I BELONG
HE PLACES HIS ROBE UPON MY TIRED SHOULDERS
AND SAYS TO ME SOFTLY "YOU'RE HOME."

*Vision
In The World Of The Blind

      Peering through the darkness growing
I saw the forms of men
Running in the black winds blowing
      Their banners raised for sin.

      Rounding up the innocents
      Rallying the troops
      Separating goats and lambs
      To isolated groups.

      Whistle blowers silencing
      Preachers preaching truth
      Scandalized and smeared with lies
      Without an ounce of proof.

      I saw the evil rising
      To rooftops and to sky
      Spreading chaos through the land
As the blind embraced the lie.

Oceans full of grief and greed
      Sweeping out the earth
Bringing death to young and old
      That never knew new birth.

      Bullets flying, children crying
      Blood running in the street
While drug cartels, the spawn of hell
      Walked by on spotless feet.

      Politicians shaking hands
      Making dirty deals
Bought and paid for in back rooms
      From power broker shills.

      Taking from the average Joe
      Taking from the salt
Of earth, those good and godly folk
      Whose souls cannot be bought.

And in the penthouses of the world
      Sipping cold champagne
      The idol makers strategized
      To give their puppets fame.

(It's all about the wealth and gold
      It's all about the choice
To let them tell you what to say
      While they use your voice.)

I saw the wars on paper planned
      The calculated death
The skies so full of chemicals
You could hardly draw your breath.

      Marching to the hospitals
      Begging for the drugs
I couldn't tell in that sick hell
      The housewives from the thugs.

Plans and schemes and shattered dreams
      Lay scattered on the ground
While hope went up in ashes
      And hopelessness came down.

And men in thousand dollar suits
      Tore down the nations' borders
      And bowed before the entities
From which they take their orders.

I saw there in the Spirit's light
The plan of old so clear
I felt the cold breath on my neck
      The Devil stood so near.

Like ants beneath his feet are men
      Disposable, obtuse
He drains their souls, throws them away
When there is no more use.

I saw there in the darkness growing
      From sea to shining sea
Demon and man work hand in hand
And I know that they saw me.

They saw me see the ancient Plan
They saw me grasp their dream
They saw me raise my righteous fist
They saw me and they screamed.

And in the dark a multitude
Of lights blinked on and blazed
The Army of the Lord awoke
And their righteous fists were raised.

I saw the enemy scatter then
      Like insects in the light
      The Devil's plan undone, unwon
As the blind received their sight.

(I do not know why God lifts up
      The veil to me sometimes
Some days I beg Him to shut my eyes
And let me, too, go blind
I know there's others in the world
That see the things I do
But you can't go back to a life of lies
      Once you've seen the true)

                    BY FAITH NOT SIGHT

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IN THE NIGHT
IS A GOD WHO CAN MAKE ALL THINGS ALRIGHT
I SEE HIM NOT, I HEAR NO CALL
I CANNOT HEAR HIS FOOTSTEPS FALL
I FEEL NO PRESENCE, I DISCERN NO BEING
BUT I STILL BELIEVE IN HIM, NOT SEEING.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IN THE NIGHT
IS A GOD WHO CAN MAKE THE DARKNESS BRIGHT THE WORLD LOOKS DARK AND COLD AND DAMP BUT THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD IS AN UNQUENCHABLE LAMP. INDEED THE WORLD LOOKS DARK AND COLD BUT THERE'S A FLICKERING CANDLE ALIGHT IN MY SOUL.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IN THE NIGHT
IS A GOD WHO WALKS BY FAITH NOT SIGHT
HE SEES HIS CHILDREN REFINED AS GOLD
HE SEES US PURE IN HEART AND SOUL
EVEN THOUGH TO OUR OWN EYES WE FALTER AND FAIL AND OUR DECEITFUL HEARTS TELL US WE'RE GOING TO HELL.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IN THE NIGHT
HE WATCHES ME EVEN AS I WRITE
HE WISHES I WOULD LEARN TO WALK
BY FAITH, NOT SIGHT, AS I'VE BEEN TAUGHT
AND KNOW HE'S THERE WHEN MY EYES CAN'T SEE AND BY FAITH BELIEVE HE'S WATCHING ME.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IN THE NIGHT
IS A GLORIOUS, GLIMMERING, GLEAMING LIGHT
THOUGH NOW FROM MY WINDOW I SEE ONLY RAIN AND NOW IN MY HEART, I FEEL ONLY PAIN
MY HEARTACHE WILL PASS, THE DARKNESS WILL FADE WHEN BY FAITH AT THE FEET OF MY GOD THEY ARE LAID.

SOMEWHERE NOW INSIDE OF ME
I SEE THE THINGS I COULD NOT SEE
WITH MORTAL EYES, WITH MORTAL EARS
I COULD NOT REVELATIONS HEAR
BUT NOW I SEE BY SPIRIT SIGHT
MY FAITH IN MY GOD HAS CONQUERED THE NIGHT.

Nothing Pure

Photobucket

The devil wears black leather
And drives a motorcycle made of different machines:
Harley, Indian, Honda, American Eagle,
Big Dog, Suzuki, you name it....
A custom made hybrid bike....
'Cause he don't like nothing pure.

The devil don't like nobody
And nobody don't like him
And he likes it that way:
It gives him a morbid pleasure and a twisted kind of relief
'Cause he never was one
For small talk.

Big issues were always his game
You know the ones:
Life, death, sin, taxes,
Heaven, Hell, politics,
Sex, drugs, rock and roll
And inventing new religions.

Who has time for chit chat
And text messaging?
When there are people to kill,
And places to blow up,
And lives to ruin,
And sitcoms to script?

Life is not a bowl of cherries
To his way of thinking
It's more like a bowl of watermelons
Full of ghastly seeds from the Garden of Eden
Growing, living things
That not even he and Monsanto can stomp out.

But he tries, he tries.....
It's a never ending battle,
This mission of his
Pluck up this, tear down that,
Hybridize those, clone all these,
And of course, blame it all on alien abductions.

It does get tiresome sometimes,
This quest to destroy all purity
Finding it in himself, he set out to purge it,
Re-mold himself, re-create himself,
Re-invent himself, destroy himself,
Though he does occasionally, even now, miss the days when he was pretty.

Life was simpler then, up there
All he had to do was sing, smile,
Learn how to play new instruments,
And keep an eye out for enemies,
Who, of course, hadn't yet made an appearance
And eventually, figure out how to make a snake look good to a woman.

Women are silly creatures:
Tell them they can't have something,
And they'll move Heaven and Earth
To get it
Tell them they can have it,
And they lose interest in it almost immediately.

Men, on the other hand,
Want hardly anything
And won't walk across a Garden to get it
Even if it's on sale or free
All they want is to lie in the shade and try not to think
And most of them do a good job at that.

Humans are useless
He doesn't understand why they were created
In the first place
And out of dirt, for pete's sakes!
What kind of biologist comes up with that concept,
For crying out loud? Dirt??

He, himself was made of finer stuff than that!
Essence of diamond! The purest gold!
24 carat holy stuff,
And the breath of God
His wings, like stained glass windows
And his face almost too beautiful to gaze upon.

But he mustn't dwell on that now
He had things to do, places to go,
People to see, and a short time to work
There was still some purity in the world
That had to be tainted, dropped in the mire,
And thrown in the pit.

Hybrids were an affront to the Big Guy
Not really his, not really, his creations
More like a joint effort
With Frankenstein and Silly Putty
All this nonsense about purity and such,
6000 years and he was still in the lab.

But one day, one day.....
The whole world was gonna look
Like Ground Zero on September the 12th
What a glorious day that had been!
The day when the world changed, the media said then
Yeah, well, baby, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Me and the boys,
We gonna ride through your burned out cities
And your bombed out landscapes,
And your amber waves of grain
Like Hell's Angels going on a picnic
And we're gonna celebrate the death of all things holy.

Too bad you won't be there to see it
Too bad there won't be anybody's faces to rub it in
Or strut around and sneer at,
Or crucify and tar and feather,
'Cause all things pure and holy will be gone.

Oh, hell, yeah! Gone, baby, gone!
And the only things left on Earth
Will be stuff we made,
Stuff we took joy in,
Stuff we created out of death and destruction,
And Nephilim spare parts.

The devil runs his hands across his whiskered face,
Spits on the ground and looks up at the sun
He sees an eagle circling high just riding the breeze
A spy, he supposes, they're everywhere
Reporting his activities and spoiling his fun
Well, it's Eagle Season, he grins.

He loads up his bow and arrow,
The shoulder launched, heat seeking,
Weapon of mass destruction kind,
And fires at the magnificent bird
Waiting for it to scream and fall,
He wonders what he'll use for target practice later on.

But the bird doesn't fall
It flies off to a high topped mountain peak
And sits there in a tall pine tree
Just staring at him with a gleam in it's eye
Challenged, he roars angrily and starts the bike up the mountain side
But the motor sputters and fizzles out with a whimper.

6000 years and he still hasn't figured out
The formula for fossil fuel..............

 Staircase From The Sky

I'm tired of walking through this world
I want to take a rest
I want to stop and rest my head
Upon my savior's chest.

I'm tired of singing endless hymns
I want to praise the name
Stop playing church and packing pews
And playing churchy games.

I'm tired of being sick and tired
I long to be made whole
Sick of failing when I take
My eyes off of the goal.

I'm tired of hungering for the truth
And seeing only lies
Seeing darkness falling down
As light lays there and cries.

I'm tired of being isolated
From family and friends
So close there at the start of life
Such strangers at the end.

I'm tired of working day and night
Not making my ends meet
Passing life in midst of strife
And angels on the street.

I'm tired of being all alone
In a world of lonely hearts
Who look with fear as I draw near
Their eyes like icy darts.

I'm tired of trying to save the world
When it doesn't want to be saved
Wasting time, out of their minds
And hurrying to their graves.

I'm tired of praying ceaselessly
And seeing few results
I need to see some miracles
Less in and more out put.

I'm tired of being human
I want to be set free
I want to fly there in the sky
Be all I'm meant to be.

I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm really tired
This world has got me down
I'm raising my arms up to God
Still standing on the ground.

If I could find a staircase
That leads to Heaven's door
Then I would leave, no more to grieve
And the world'd see me no more.

I am so tired of being here
On this planet that I roam
I want to run on streets of gold
I want to hurry home.

I'm tired of walking in and out
Mud holes in which I'm mired
I want to rest my weary feet
Good Lord, because I'm tired.

If this is selfish, then let it be
You know my inner man
I will not lie or hide from you
I don't know how I can.

So drop a staircase from the sky
In midnight clouds or blue
I'll climb those stairs in record time
Lord, running up to you.

I'm tired of living without you
Existing in your grace
I need to feel your arms of love
I need  to see  your  face.

What's that? You say you are so tired?
Of living without me, too?
But Lord, you see me every day!
'Tis I, that can't see you!

Pardon me, what's that you said?
You're tired of the world?
You say you have a feast prepared
And carpets all unfurled?

Is that for me or everyone?
I want to understand
Oh, that's for me and everyone
Boy, girl, woman and man.......

Well, drop that staircase from the sky!
I'll tell them all to hurry
I'll tell them all about the feast
And Heaven, don't you worry!

Hellllooooo! I cry into the air
But people pass me by
They look at me like I'm a fool
And give the evil eye.

"Supper's ready!" I shout out loud
Our Daddy says 'Come home'
But they just rush on to and fro
And leave me there alone.

I'm tired of preaching to this world
Of blind eyes full of tears
They will not see what I can see
And they have deafened ears.

It hurts me so, fills me with woe
This world with cold hard soul
They settle for a gravel road
And spit on  streets of gold.

I am so tired, I say again......
Then my eyes behold the sight
Of a staircase dropping to the Earth
As the clock chimes out midnight.

And oh, my weary feet do run!
And my soul is filled with light
I take the stairs two at a time
As I disappear from sight.

War of the Angels

War broke out in Heaven
Before and After the Cross
Hell broke in because of men
And all it seemed was lost.
Battle cries screamed through the skies
And days turned into nights
Darkened sun and blood red moon
And men cried for the Light.
Angels, angels, everywhere
Fighting to the death
Planets crashed and planets died
And men fought to draw breath.
Fluffy clouds hid monstrous things
The sea's roars swept the land
And every bit of bread and wine
Was taken from man's hand.
Hope, it seemed was gone and deemed
To be a fairy tale
The demons raised their glasses high
And toasted the King of Hell.
Onward, onward, orc and troll
Marching through the atmosphere
Reigning terror on the Earth
And feasting on men's fear.
No light, no light could mortals find
As earthquakes split the city
Of Babylon and Bethlehem
And no one showed them pity.
Armor bright and silver gleemed
Upon the angels' breasts
And darkened foe with sword of woe
Refused to give them rest.
The Battle continued through history
Through Ages of mankind
And still today, the army holds sway
Waiting for the Sign.
The God of War, the God of Peace
They meet on heavenly ground
Their armies fight to victory win
And till then, will not stand down.
